Meet the Tutor

Helen McKenna

Helen originally learned to sew as a child making clothes for her dolls. As a teenager she would rush to buy fabric after school to make something for a Saturday night out. A City and Guilds in Fashion followed and then one in Creative Embroidery too.

As part of a stitching group Helenā€™s work was exhibited locally and further afield. Then a chance conversation whilst visiting a textile show, led to Helen attaining BA Hons first class in Contemporary Applied Art in 2007. In that same year Helen became a finalist in the Hand and Lock embroidery competition.

Although no longer part of the stitching group, Helen continues to find inspiration through workshops, exhibitions and visiting galleries. She has been involved with demonstrating and teaching at ICHF Events for 15 years and is looking forward to the Glasgow shows.
