Diversity – Contemporary Quilt

Contemporary Quilt is a special interest group within the Quilters’ Guild. Members are a diverse collection of quilters and textile artists, working at the cutting edge of their practice, creating innovative and dynamic art. CQ’s mission is to continue to push the boundaries and be excited by the possibilities of new materials, new techniques and new ideas.

Sewing and crafting workshops:

Kerrie Padmore – Living in Loveliness

Kerrie has been teaching sewing workshops – everything from mini zippers to patchwork and quilting – for more than 10 years. She has taken her love of teaching and passion for selecting beautiful fabrics and accessories along with her experience and knowledge from teaching classes to write and launch her own fabulous patterns. Kerrie’s passion lies in bringing people together in workshops through their shared joy of sewing and she looks forward to welcoming you to her wonderful world of ‘Living in Loveliness’ at the shows.

Lauryn Bates – Mally Makes

Lauryn is a self-taught crocheter that specialises in the amigurumi method and toy making. Lauryn runs ‘Mally Makes’ for which she design and creates crochet kits and patterns to make an array of animal characters, suitable for beginners through to the more advanced crocheter.

Sarah Payne is an award winning author, fabric designer and TV demonstrator. She represents large brands including Brother, Vlieseline and Oliso Irons. Sarah teaches on-line, designs her own kits and patterns as well as offering subscriptions online.

Ursula Westwood

Ursula is a felt artist, and has been making textile works mainly using felt since 2002. Ursula is fascinated by the history of felt making and loves working with the vibrant colours of the wool to create her designs. Ursula says, “Felt making for me is highly satisfying and an immersive experience. I create bespoke felted wall hangings for interiors. I also love screenprinting, and incorporating other textile techniques. All my work is for sale and pieces can be commissioned.”

National Needlework Archive

The National Needlework Archive’s artefact collection includes many quilts and they will be displaying several at the show this year. Come to see these lovely quilts and watch demonstrations of traditional hand and machine piecing.

The Lace Guild CIO

The Lace Guild is the largest lace organisation in the United Kingdom and is an accredited museum with a large collection of lace and associated artefacts. The Guild produces two quarterly magazines: Lace and Early Days in Lacemaking and publishes books of lace techniques and patterns.

The guild also runs courses and workshops throughout the UK and has a comprehensive library.
