Mark Francis
Mark’s practical sewing experiences began quite late in life, but his relationship with sewing began when he was a small child. However, needlework was not something that little boys were encouraged to do in the 1980’s.
Many years passed until he found the confidence to finally learn to use a sewing machine, and he discovered his passion for making clothes and costumes. Then, a few years ago, Mark’s husband entered him for series 6 of the Great British Sewing (2020) and life has never been the same since!
Mark now works across the sewing industry, teaching, presenting talks and developing his growing range of sewing patterns.

During this workshop you will be introduced to the addictive art of free motion embroidery – drawing with a sewing machine.
You will learn a variety of patterns, which can be used for adding texture and detail to embroidery or quilting. You will also learn how to create small images of leaves and flowers and finish with a stitched portrait. Hints and tips on threads, fabrics, needles and more will be shared at the workshop.

Jan Tillett
Jan is a Devon based textile artist and tutor. Her work is inspired by the natural and built environment. Her recent work involves the use of a variety of fabrics, which are stitched, manipulated, painted and printed. Experimentation is key to her work and she encourages participants in her workshops to explore a range of techniques.

Explore using repeat patterns, borders and multi colour printing. Using hand carved Indian printing blocks to block print either a cushion cover, Turkish hand towel or a large toiletry pouch.

Anna has been part of The Indian Block Print Co. from the beginning. With over 10 years experience running block printing workshops she will share her in depth knowledge and tips with all things Block Printing.
Join Michelle Goodfield from Thimble Wood to make an adorable Festive Fairy, perfect to adorn your tree!
You will learn the super fast technique to make a basic yarn doll and then how to add sparkly wings, tiny shoes and a glittery overskirt to complete your fairy, plus an accessory of your choice. Take home a full-colour instruction leaflet including any templates needed and your finished fairy!
The fairy is about 20cm (8”) from head to toe, not including the hanging loop.

This make is suitable for beginners and children 12+ with adult supervision. This project is fiddly rather than difficult, and includes some very simple sewing.

Michelle Goodfield
A lifelong crafter, Michelle has been lucky enough to work in the craft industry for 30 years, initially designing rubber stamps, then writing articles on card making. This led to a career in craft publishing, writing 12 craft books and hundreds of magazine articles.
It was always Michelle’s dream to start her own business and so Thimble Wood was born five years ago where Michelle gets to design the things that she likes to make; small projects, something a bit different, sometimes quirky, often cute (even though they weren’t really intend to be) and always great fun to make. Michelle loves to make up her own techniques and find the easiest way to do things!

Join Angela from The British Polymer Clay Guild to create this colourful pendant and earring set using a simple polymer clay technique to create patterns in a variety of vibrant colours.
Your piece will be cured on the Guild stand, so that you can take it home at the end of the day.

Angela Smith
Angela Smith is a polymer clay, beadwork artist and tutor based in Northampton.
She first discovered beads while at university, but when she happened upon polymer clay at a bead fair it seemed a logical progression to start creating her own beads. Fast forward a few years and Angela now divides her time between beadwork and experimenting with surface techniques and millefiori caning to create one-off sets of beads and cabochons to incorporate into her beaded designs.
Not content with ‘just’ creating beads, Angela also uses polymer clay to create cute clay characters and bespoke miniature tableaux to commemorate that special occasion.
As well as the joy of creating Angela also enjoys spreading the polymer clay word and is a regular tutor and exhibition co-ordinator for the British Polymer Clay Guild.
KUSUDAMA PAPER FLOWERS with Sonya Ellis, Exeter Craft Hub Friday 13.30pm

Sonya Ellis Sonya has been crafting all her life and as an adult around work as sports coach. Four and a half years ago she decided to also open Exeter Craft Hub in central Exeter to celebrate and support both local crafters to sell their items, but also run range of workshops in a relaxed and enjoyable way and hasn’t looked back. She promotes creativity in a range of mediums from decopatch, sewing, paper crafts and lots of colouring using acrylic painting pens. She is very keen to develop inclusive approach and feels anyone can be creative.
GEL PLATE PRINTING with Hannah Blowes – Submerge Art Friday 15.15pm

Explore a variety of Gel Plate Printing techniques. Experiment with layering colour and texture using plants, stamps, stencils and household items onto paper and fabric.
Gel Plate printing is simple and fun without the need for a printing press or for any carving or drawing skills.
The reward is immediate and each print is truly unique.
By the end of the workshop, participants should feel confident enough to use and experiment with the gel plate printmaking techniques in their own home.

Hannah Blowes
Hannah Blowes creates handmade prints from her workshop near Bude in Cornwall.
Having trained as a Theatre/Film Designer, Hannah then spent 15 years teaching Art & Design in secondary schools where it was magical to inspire students with a love of creativity and skill based learning. Always drawn to the ocean, Hannah has been very fortunate to scuba dive in some amazing parts of the world and her artwork is inspired by her interactions with sea life. Hannah hopes to pass on her love of all things aquatic to you, as she really enjoys teaching printmaking techniques and runs workshops throughout the year
Join Gemma, from Cotton & Wool, in an hour-long session creating a beautiful piece of Fused Glass Art.
Starting with a clear glass base, Gemma will show you how to use the coloured glass in various forms, to create a festive Christmas decoration for you to enjoy for years to come.
