Join Michelle Goodfield from Thimble Wood to create a charming yarn flower fairy doll. You will learn the very simple process of creating a basic doll from yarn using a wooden bead for a head. Then learn how to modernise this traditional crafty make by dressing your doll with a stitched felt Buttercup outfit including a pretty petaled overskirt, wings, hat and boots.

You will be provided with all the materials to make your doll and will aim to complete the main doll and dress in the session, with full directions given for you to finish off the wings, hat and boots at home.

Michelle Goodfield

A lifelong crafter, Michelle has been lucky enough to work in the craft industry for 30 years, initially designing rubber stamps, then writing articles on card making. This led to a career in craft publishing, writing 12 craft books and hundreds of magazine articles. It was always Michelle’s dream to start her own business and so Thimble Wood was born four years ago where Michelle gets to design the things that she likes to make; small projects, something a bit different, sometimes quirky, often cute (even though they weren’t really intend to be) and always great fun to make. Michelle loves to make up her own techniques and find the easiest way to do things!

Emma Pickering

Emma’s love for crochet started about 17 years ago and soon became a form of therapy for her. Emma started Oh So Pretty And Clever whilst juggling her family life and ‘normal’ 9 to 5 job, with the goal of helping others discover the same joy and satisfaction that she found from this wonderful craft. In 2019 Emma decided to turn her passion in to a full-time business, and hasn’t looked back since!

When not teaching workshops or planning retreats, you can usually find Emma at home with her family, surrounded by her yarn stash, dog Brodie and two cats Minnie and Mickey.

CUTE SEWING BOX with Nicki Gunn, Daisy’s 60 Minute Crafts – 15.00

Join Nicki from Daisy’s 60 Minute Crafts to make this cute sewing box, perfect to have on hand for all those quick mends. This is ironically a no-sew make; and uses a trusted upcycled material – the cereal box!

Nicki has a reputation for making beautiful projects out of the materials you have in your craft stash and around your home, with monthly projects accessible via her craft club and this project is no different.

Prepare to be amazed at how you can turn simple resources into a pretty little box that not only looks good, but is super useful too.

Nicki Gunn

Nicki is a trained teacher who spent many years inspiring young and old to embrace learning something new. Nicki studied Education at University focusing on Art (textiles) and Music.

After a successful career in Education Nicki decided to follow her true love of crafting and ‘Daisy’s 60 Minute Crafts’ was named after her late Grandma, launched in 2019.

Nicki’s mission is to encourage people to ‘make time to craft’ finding the joy in setting aside a little time to be creative with their hands. She does this by designing projects that are accessible to all levels of crafters; whilst giving her clients a taste of new and exciting crafts and techniques.

She has developed a wide range of workshops and craft kits; she teaches nationally online via her popular 60 Minute Craft Club and face-to-face across Shropshire and Herefordshire.

Lyndsey Harvey – Crafting with Lyndsey

Lyndsey is the founder of Crafting with Lyndsey and for the last ten years she has been delivering craft workshops in South Devon, with retreats and parties across the South West of England. Lyndsey is a qualified adult teacher and passionate about crafting. She teaches a variety of crafts, from sewing to macramé and arm knitting to bargello and has a range of bright and colourful kits perfect for beginners.

CATHEDRAL WINDOWS COLLAGE with Maria Thomas – 11.45

Maria Thomas

Maria studied Embroidery at Manchester Polytechnic during the1990’s. Along side teaching textiles and embroidery for over 30 years, she has designed freelance for fashion, exhibited regularly and has work in public and private collections in the UK and overseas. Her work is about her life with her family, using patchwork and quilting to shape her memories she likes to draw with found objects and recycled materials. Her home and studio are in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

3D MIXED MEDIA EMBELLISHMENTS with Jessica Grady – 13.45

Come along and try out some 3D embellishment techniques on fabric with artist Jessica Grady. Jessica will show you how to use your imagination and create a fun and exciting design using mixed media materials that really do jump off the surface of the fabric!

Techniques will include: folded sequins, vertical beads, stacked embellishments and beaded tubes. This class is suitable for all abilities with some knowledge of basic stitches such as straight stitch helpful.

Jessica Grady

Embroidery artist Jessica Grady creates hand stitched 3D sculptures and wall art, utilising unconventional and recycled materials to create her own colourful and intricate embellishments and sequins.

Jessica has created embroidery designs both as an artist and as a freelance designer. Her own work has been exhibited across the UK, Europe and Asia and she is a member of British group: Art Textiles Made in Britain. She also teaches various workshops for education, private groups and individuals.

RSN LUNA MOTH: INTRO TO MIXED TECHNIQUES with Anne Butcher, RSN – Saturday 09.45

The Luna Moth design has been created by third year RSN Future Tutor Abigail Carter. You will learn a variety of surface stitches and beginners’ Goldwork techniques; back stitch, stem stitch and turkey rug, along with couched gold metal thread and spangles.

Anne Butcher, Head of Studio and Standards, RSN

Having graduated from the RSN apprenticeship Anne has over 40 years of embroidery experience and knowledge.
She has strong links to the education provisions of the RSN and has taught a vast variety of techniques.

Last year Anne was been instrumental in overseeing all the pieces for the Coronation and been part of the team designing, developing techniques and embroidering on all pieces including the Anointing Screen and new Robe of Estate.

Most recently Anne has been involved in licensing and brand partnerships along with the new digitisation project.

AN INTRODUCTION TO GOLDWORK: GOLDEN, GUILDED DRAGONFLY’S with Kathleen Laurel Sage – Saturday 15.45

Experience traditional techniques to create a golden Dragonfly with a leather padded body, couched cords to outline him and filling techniques to include beads and sequins, chipping with check wires and surface embroidery.

Kathleen Laurel Sage

Kathleen is a freelance designer and embroiderer producing innovative textile works using a soldering iron and machine embroidery. She also enjoys hand embroidery designing her own range of gold work embroideries using traditional and modern fabrics to create golden stitched images found in nature.

DRESSMAKING ­– INSERTING A CONCEALED ZIP with Helen Rhiannon – 13.15

In this workshop you will learn how to insert the perfect concealed zip. Helen will demonstrate how to prepare the garment before positioning the zip for a neat finish. You will then complete your own concealed zip sample.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn how to insert a zip, to give a professional finish to your garment.  All ages and abilities are welcome.

All materials provided and equipment for use in the workshop.

Helen Rhiannon

Helen Rhiannon is a dressmaking expert and bestselling Author. Helen has gained extensive knowledge over the last 18 years from designing and creating bespoke clothing and bridal wear. Helen has also taught sewing and dressmaking for many years, which led her to publish her new book, ‘Dressmaking The Easy Guide’.  Helen is also a regular Guest Presenter on Sewing Street TV.

Through her new book, Helen will hand hold you through the basics of dressmaking and the skills you will learn to be able to create your own beautifully fitted dress. You will be able to choose the exact size that fits and flatters you from a bespoke sizing chart, which ranges from a UK 6 – 44.

STITCH A STORAGE BOX with Katharine Wright, Leicestershire Craft Centre – 15.15

Join Sewing Street Guest Demonstrator, Katharine Wright, as she teaches you how to create a handy storage box from fabric and bias binding. You’ll make one in class and leave with instructions to make the remaining sizes for a complete set!

Katharine Wright, Leicestershire Craft Centre

Owner and founder of the Leicestershire Craft Centre, Katharine has been crafting since she was seven and her mum taught her to knit – her first handmade gift was a knitted egg cosy for her Grandpa.

Patchwork and dressmaking are particular favourites, but Katharine also knits and crochets, makes jewellery and enjoys all kinds of other crafts including embroidery, felting, silversmithing, glass fusion and painting.

Katharine has taught workshops at a variety of national Craft Events including The Festival of Quilts, The Handmade Festival and Malvern Quilt Festival. She has also appeared as a Guest Demonstrator on Sewing Street TV.
